How can we help? Below you'll find answers to the most common questions about planning, importing, saving, and navigating routes with Route & Ride.
Route planning
How do I plan a route?
Tap the map to add waypoints. Each waypoint can be in Road mode (we snap to the road network) or Trail mode (we draw your line freehand, perfect for green lanes and singletrack). Drag a waypoint to move it, tap the line between two waypoints to insert a new one, or tap a waypoint pin to remove it.
What do the orange and green colours mean?
Orange/brown segments follow roads using our routing engine. Green segments are hand-drawn trails that follow the exact line you drew. Waypoint pins use the same colours so you can see which mode each point is using.
Importing GPX and TET files
Open Your routes and choose Import GPX. You can drop a single GPX file or a multi-track file with several legs. For multi-track files, you'll see a preview where you can pick which legs to include. The original track geometry is preserved, and you can edit it afterwards just like a route you planned from scratch.
Saving routes and the free tier
Free accounts can save up to 3 routes. If you hit the limit, you can delete an old route to make space, or upgrade to Route & Ride Pro to save up to 100 routes and unlock GPX export and navigation.
Navigation
Turn-by-turn navigation is a Pro feature. Once you're Pro, open any saved route and tap Ride to start. Your position is shown on the map, the app warns you if you go off-route, and voice guidance calls upcoming turns. Navigation works offline as long as the map tiles have loaded in your current view.
Managing or cancelling a Pro subscription
Subscriptions are handled by the platform you bought through:
- Web (Stripe): visit the account/subscription section on routeandride.co.uk, or email support@routeandride.co.uk and we'll send a secure management link.
- iOS (App Store): open Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions, then find Route & Ride.
- Android (Google Play): open the Play Store → Profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, then find Route & Ride.
You can cancel anytime. Your Pro access continues until the end of your current billing period.
